If you truly want your bird dog to be the best version it can be, they need to be tested. And nothing will test a bird dog like wild birds. With over 20,000 acres to explore, and Sharptail Grouse and Hungarian Partridge all over it. Our camp can provide your bird dog the experience and training they need to be successful hunting companions or Field trial dogs.

What to expect during the months of August and September:

Adult dogs will run throughout the week off horseback. They will be braced with other dogs that match their age and training levels. It's hot so we run dogs early in the morning and in the evenings when it's cool out and scenting conditions are at their best. Dogs will build up their stamina and build their confidence in the field. They will learn to keep to the front, and use their nose to find birds. With brace mates on the ground, they will have the opportunity to Honor another dog on point. During the afternoon I will work dogs on some basic ground work drills, and fine tune anything that needs to be cleaned up with that individual dog.

Puppies that are too young to run off horseback will go on puppy runs each day. They will get plenty of opportunities to see, smell, and point wild birds. Also will be introduced to gun fire, from a blank gun. I will also work them on some ground work, and handling drills. And The main objective is to get your young pups a head start and be put in positive scenarios that will enhance their bird finding abilities in the future while also building their confidence and prey drive. We like to keep it fun for these young puppies.

If you have a trial horse that needs more time under the saddle. We also can accommodate them. Horses are all to be physically and mentally sound. They are to be up to date on vaccines and coggins. No horses that kick, or buck or rear. We aren't breaking horses out here. But can put a lot of good miles on them and give them exposure to dogs, birds, and various terrain.
